Brighton CO Real Estate

You can find Brighton, Colorado, just a few ticks northeast of Denver, and about 45 minutes due East of Boulder Colorado, a sparkling suburban town boasting close to 34,000 residents. It sprang to life in the late 1800s, and many of its early properties are now designated historical landmarks. You’ll find an eclectic mixture of architectural styles here, including Italianate, Tudor, Gothic Revival, and the popular Foursquare. It rests at almost 5,000 feet above sea level, and it was named after the town of Brighton, England.

So what’s it like to live, love, and work in Brighton? For starters, you’re only thirty minutes from either Denver or Boulder, so if you don’t find what you want right here then it’s not far away. The sun shines down on most days, and you can catch a nice breeze here fairly often. Look for colorful shade trees and evergreens along the streets and in the many area parks.

Just fifty years ago, Brighton was still a sleepy little town of under 10,000 people. But it offered so many lifestyle choices and business opportunities that it just had to grow. With Denver’s boundaries pushing outward in all directions-including north-Brighton continues to experience amazing expansion. Before economic downturns affected places all over the country, Brighton’s leaders had the foresight to make plans. Contaminated aquifers were treated. An expressway, E-470, was built along the eastern edges of Denver and splashed life into Brighton. A huge medical center sprouted up. DIA, Denver International Airport, also contributed to the reinvigoration of this century-old city. In fact, Toshiba chose Platte Valley Medical Center as the place to demonstrate its progressive technology because of the town’s handy proximity to DIA. Vesta, on the cutting edge of wind turbine assembly, is also launching in this town. Staples established a fulfillment center here. Household incomes average over $65,000, and many of them top $90,000.

The time to buy property in this area is now. You can choose from the historical, older brick construction of the inner city or from the sleek airy architecture on the outskirts. Just choose something, because the I-25 and I-76 business areas are boosting values on properties wherever you look. You can find what you want in just about any price range. Looking for a ranch home for $175,000? Done. Need a six-bedroom home for $300,000? No problem! Buying a family home with a mother-in-law suite for less than $400,000? The variety is endless. You can find something landscaped, with a built-in pool and a half-acre of land, a double brick grill, plus a basketball court, for less than $250,000.

You can plant your children into one of the impressive schools you’ll find here. The three major high schools start with Brighton High School, which dates back to the town’s beginnings. Until this year, it boasted the best graduation rate in all of Adams County-and then it was beat out by mere points by neighboring Prairie View High School. Last, there’s Brighton Heritage Academy for those kids in grades 6-12 who need more one-on-one attention.

Where to shop, where to shop! There is the 2,000-acre Prairie Center featuring Kohl’s, Home Depot, Super Target, and more, easily accessible on the outskirts. In the city center, you can find the shops and restaurants of Brighton Pavilions brightening up the historic area. New facades liven up the fronts of favorite older shops. It’s the place to be!
